Henry C. Lewkowicz, Co-founder, President and CEO
Henry, the co-founder, President & CEO of MODEL Technologies Inc., is responsible for driving the company's vision and execution. Henry has over 20 years experience in research and development in knowledge management, context management, and document management solutions and technologies.
Henry holds an M.Sc. from the University of Lodz, Poland and a Diploma in Data Processing, Dawson College, Montreal.
Before co-founding MODEL in 1994, Henry held management, technical and business development positions with Bank of Canada, Revenue Canada, Provigo, and Megalith Technologies.
Dave Baker, Senior Knowledge Engineer/Technology Systems Analyst
Dave is an IT/IM consultant focusing on leading edge technology-based knowledge management: e.g. context management, online knowledge retrieval and exchange, online collaboration - especially involving complex and highly unstructured information. Dave also focuses on the application and roles of telecommunications in the computer-intensive enterprise.
He has worked for 50 years in electronics, communications, computers and information systems with a heavy emphasis on concepts and technology for managing unstructured information and meta information. Dave has long experience in planning, design, management, and use of operational information systems.
His current work involves research and analysis of ways to use concept-based techniques for context management, developing taxonomies and applying concept maps and thesaurus. He has done extensive work in Web-based publishing of hyper linked, multimedia information sets, interactive hyper-linked online directories, bibliographies and meta information, concept-based searching, vocabulary switching, terminology tools, document architectures and hypermedia.
Dave holds a BA in English from the University of Massachusetts
Robert Chafetz, Senior Knowledge Systems Analyst
Robert has over 20 years experience researching and developing knowledge-based and decision-support systems.
He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering and a B.A. in Semiotics from Brown University. At the University of Pennsylvania Robert received a M.S.E. in Computer and Information Science. In addition, he has done graduate level studies in Instructional Design in the Department of Educational Psychology at McGill University.
Robert has published in the area of natural language based conceptual indexing and retrieval and intelligent agents that learn user behavior. He also has expertise in the areas of requirements analysis, conceptual modeling, and database modeling.
Leon Dykler, Senior Project Manager
Leon has over 25 years experience in Information Planning, Strategic Planning, Information Management and Information Technology. He has provided services to government, private and crown corporations during his long career. His main focus is the application of effective information and knowledge management principles to improve organizations' access to relevant information, and reduce information management expenses.
Leon's specialties are Information Architecture, Information Resource Management, Data Modeling, Process Modeling, Business Reengineering, and Strategic Planning, Corporate Information Strategies and, Strategic Information and Business Planning. Services also include Project Management, Functional and Business Requirements, Feasibility Analysis, Systems Analysis and Design, and Business, Workflow, and Process Modeling.
Leon holds a Bachelor of Computer Science with a Minor in Business from Concordia University, and the ISP designation (Information Systems Professional) from the Canadian Information Processing Society. He is a past executive member of the Information Resource Management Association of Canada, Ottawa Chapter.
Leon believes that context adds value to information use and the marketplace has recognized that effective and efficient organizations are those capable of using their retained expertise, knowledge and experience.
Diane Montreuil, Senior Systems Analyst and Designer
Diane has nearly 20 years experience in software engineering, design, rapid prototyping, and systems analysis primarily in the document management and knowledge management domains. Diane has a B. Sc. Mathematics-Sciences with Honors in Applied Mathematics from the University of Ottawa.
Her focus is on knowledge mapping methods and applications supporting end user knowledge management functions in the Intranet and Internet environments. She is an expert in relational database, numerous programming languages and platforms.
She has an outstanding ability to work with users at all professional levels and at all levels of competence with computer technology. She is extremely skilled in determining system requirements through interaction with users and knows how to attain the right balance between the user priorities and technology challenges.
Liam Peyton, Ph.D., Application Architect and Strategic Consultant
Liam is a highly skilled information technology professional with 20 years of industry experience and a solid academic background including degrees from McGill (Canada), Stanford (USA), and Aalborg (Denmark).
He specializes in assisting organizations as they adopt new technology to develop online systems in support of business processes. He has experience with e-commerce, business intelligence, expert systems, workflow, web content management systems, secure file transfer, and PKI.
Liam brings a unique combination of creativity, business sense, people skills and technical excellence to his work. His project roles range from hands-on development to strategic planning, and from team management to product marketing and quality assurance. Liam does whatever is necessary and appropriate to achieve both technical and commercial success.
Sandra Thwaites, Senior Usability/Human Factors Analyst
Sandra is a Cognitive Psychologist with fifteen years experience in corporate and government environments. Sandra holds an MA in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Guelph, an HBsc in Experimental Psychology from Trent University, and has pursued PhD work at Carleton and Waterloo Universities.
She is an expert in the use of scientific tools to conduct and evaluate research in man-machine interaction and the user-computer interface. She has advised such well-known institutions as Museum of Civilization, Nortel, Department of External Affairs, Canada Post and others. She conducted a usability analysis of NRC/CISTIs Virtual Library prototype. Her particular strength is understanding the essential requirements of user environments, needs, and functions and effectively aid in the design of useful and usable computer solutions.
Rubin Vineberg, Senior Library Science Specialist
Rubin has been working in library and information services for over 20 years. He holds a Master of Library Science from the University of Western Ontario, and a Bachelor of Arts, Humanities of Science from Sir George Williams University.
His key competence is in the application of technology to library functions from cataloging, indexing, and thesaurus-building to library implementation on the Web. He has extensive experience with the nuts and bolts of building and managing library collections, organizing holdings and service delivery in many settings ranging from government, non profit sector, large corporation, and University domains. His particular interests include methods and technologies for delivery of information and knowledge resources within digital libraries.
Rubin is well versed in many computer applications, methodologies and standards used for building digital libraries. He is a member of Special Libraries Association and Association of Records Managers and Administrators.
Shawn Zhang, Senior Designer
Shawn has an exceptionally strong practical and research background in user interface design and usability engineering. His focus is on software, web-based application and web site usabilities. He holds an M.Sc in Human Computer Interaction, University of Guelph, a Computer Science minor, University of Guelph and B.SC. in Isotopic Chemistry, Peking University.
Shawn is an expert in applying formal and informal usability testing on product prototypes. He assists his clients by demonstrating many usability issues in the early design, which help design and development teams avoid costly implementation. He is an expert in developing rapid prototype to advance the understanding of the design related issues. He also provides heuristic evaluation, concept validation and product design.
Shawn is a member of human-computer user special interest groups in prestigious professional associations such as ACM, CapCHI, IRG, and the Ottawa Usability Professionals' Society. His publications are focused on design and evaluation topics of input device and methodology for computer systems.
