Effective knowledge management is a key to ICIMOD's strategy. Valuable information to support sustainable development exists throughout the HKH region, but this information is not readily accessible by development practitioners, the indigenous population, or others who need to apply the knowledge.
This paper identifies knowledge management issues pertinent to problems of accessing relevant knowledge, and presents the advantages of using context management technology in order to provide knowledge-sharing solutions. It also presents a prototype system built by MODEL Technologies1 to organise a large volume of Mountain Forum knowledge objects.
