Ottawa, October 27, 2003 - MODEL Technologies Inc., a context management company, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Martin Brooks to the Board of Advisors of the company effective October 27, 2003.
Dr. Martin Brooks is with the National Research Council of Canadas Institute for Information Technology where he leads the Broadband Visual Communication Research Program; the objective is to catalyze large-scale deployment of broadband networks, thus maintaining Canada's place as a world leader in advanced ICT. Dr. Brooks previously led NRCs Interactive Information Group and the Knowledge Systems Laboratory.
Martin holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University and has 30 years broad experience in research institutes, the private sector and the academic community - here and abroad. His main research areas are: software engineering, artificial intelligence , robotics and broadband networks. His work spans the range from highly theoretical to the very practical, and he also brings a strong background in development of business strategies and technology products.
As an experienced business and technology strategist, Dr. Brooks is an outstanding mentor with valuable experience in applied research and development especially in digital libraries and information retrieval. Over the course of his 30 year international career Dr. Brooks has created, developed and guided successful, creative product development teams in industry and research institutes. And MODEL has, over the years, been the beneficiary of Martins invaluable insights and wisdom.
