MODEL Technologies Inc. receives IRAP's Funding to Develop ContextPortal for Microsoft Outlook
Ottawa, Ontario, February, 2001 - MODEL Technologies Inc., a developer of context management software that puts information in context, announced today that it has received Research & Development funding from the National Research Council's (NRC) Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP). IRAP supports technological innovation capabilities for both the small and medium sized businesses by providing services, including financial assistance, for both small and large-scale research and development projects.
The NRC's IRAP stimulates wealth-creation for Canada through the support of technological innovation. IRAP's financial assistance program is only one component of a complete service package that enables small and medium sized Canadian businesses to turn innovative ideas into state-of-art products.
With IRAP's support MODEL will leverage its existing proprietary ContextEnginetm technology to develop powerful, scaleable, and user-friendly knowledge management applications. The Knowledge Management software market had been performing extremely well over the past several years, experiencing very robust worldwide revenue growth exceeding 20% in 2000. The total knowledge management software market is expected to increase to $4.8 billion in 2007 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12.4%. (Source IDC).
MODEL's development project goals include context automation and increasing the range of its application program interfaces (APIs) to enhance MODEL's attractiveness to strategic partners. Specifically, MODEL will focus on developing ContextPortaltm for Microsoft Outlook®, the most widely used email application in the world.
The challenge is to turn static email repository into a fluid, adaptable and flexible corporate knowledge base. To do so requires an understanding of how work is done. It is about connections between people, relationships, roles, responsibilities, expertise, processes and data - all automatically organized by context.
