MODEL Technologies Inc. Joins the Microsoft® Certified Partner Program
Ottawa, Ontario, May 12, 2004 - MODEL Technologies Inc., a producer of context management tools that organize unstructured information for easy retrieval, review and re-use, announced today that it has been accredited as a Microsoft Certified Partner.
MODEL’s knowledge management product for e-mail, ContextPortal™ for Outlook®, has successfully completed the Microsoft Platform Test for ISV Solutions.
This stringent third-party testing by VeriTest of MODEL’s ContextPortal™ for Outlook® ensures critical compatibility with Microsoft Windows Server and Microsoft Office standards, and guarantees both higher reliability and lower total cost of ownership than non-certified applications.
After intensive testing, VeriTest found that the solution complies with mandatory Microsoft standards and will suitably accommodate upgrades, offering the highest quality and longevity to customers. More specifically, MODEL Technologies successfully passed the tests for Windows Server and Microsoft Office that measure application fundamentals, install and uninstall capabilities, compliance with Outlook® integration and user interfaces.
ContextPortal™ gives business customers the competitive edge because it improves and accelerates decision-making by quickly locating the relevant information and presenting it in the proper context. It provides better, more effective ways to retrieve, share and re-use the unstructured information from large repositories and from the outside world. It provides tools and methods for organizing unstructured data into contextual views that speed up understanding of complex issues. ContextPortal™ provides conceptual frameworks - knowledge maps - that relate knowledge objects to relevant concepts and to each other. It assists the review of filed documents by giving quick summaries and by highlighting the key ideas so searchers quickly get to the important, relevant information.
ContextPortal™ then, allows emphasis on applying the information rather than on the logistics of locating, reviewing and assessing information from the huge result lists returned by conventional search engines.
Within the program, MODEL is launching two knowledge management products:
ContextPortal™ for Microsoft Outlook® and,
ContextPortal™ for Microsoft Windows® 2003.
ContextPortal™ for Microsoft Outlook®
For many people, e-mail is the critical working tool and the primary, essential file system. ContextPortal™ for Microsoft Outlook® turns a static e-mail repository into a fluid, adaptable and flexible knowledge base. Users benefit from rapid access to relevant documents, contacts, issues, expertise, roles and responsibilities.
ContextPortal™ for Microsoft Outlook automatically puts information in context from office applications including: corporate and local file systems, Intranets, the Internet, and databases.
ContextPortal™ for Microsoft Outlook® is going to be available as an Outlook® plug-in application in the June 2004.
ContextPortal™ for Microsoft Windows®
Human understanding results from a continuum of relevant aggregated information.
The key difficulty in finding knowledge objects in the sea of digital information is that the information is decomposed into non-significant pieces scattered within organizational information silos. ContextPortal™ for Microsoft Windows resolves this difficulty by intelligent aggregation of unstructured information into conceptually relevant wholes that make sense to the user.
ContextPortal™ for Microsoft Windows provides a single point of access to corporate unstructured data, ensuring that users have the most relevant information to work with. Relevant information increases productivity while allowing users to benefit from, and enhance organizational knowledge. In ContextPortal™ for Microsoft Windows corporate information is contextually linked without modification even as it is incorporated in dynamically-aggregated knowledge objects.
