 Check for a compatible operating system
One of the following operating systems must be installed:
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
- Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
- Microsoft Windows XP Professional
- Microsoft Windows 2003 Server
Check for a compatible version of Microsoft Word®
One of the following Microsoft Word® versions must be installed:
- Microsoft Word® 2002
- Microsoft Office Word® 2003
Get the product
Shut down Word
- Shut down any Word application you may have running
Verify your User Rights
- You should have administrative rights if you wish to select the “All Users” option during the installation process.
Run setup
- Double-click on the setup.exe file
- Provide basic information during the setup dialog
- If you are granting rights to other users of ContextExplorer™ for MS Word®, grant a minimum of "Power User Rights"
Open Word and use ContextExplorer™ for Word®
- Start Microsoft Word. The ContextExplorer™ tool button should appear on the toolbar.
- Click on the ContextExplorer button in Word
Extend the ability to put other types of files in context (optional)
- Review the "CE Reade.doc" file in the ContextExplorer™ installation directory
- Download additional filters, e.g. for PDF file handling
Once you download and install the free trial of ContextExplorer for Word you have 90 days to try it out. You can easily purchase ContextExplorer for Word directly from the product – just click on the "Purchase ContextExplorer" menu item in the Help menu, as shown in the figure below.
A form will open directly on the web and you can then use PayPal or your credit card to buy the product. You will next receive a registration code by e-mail. Open the Registration dialog from the Help menu, paste or type the code in the text box shown below, then click “Register”. Note that the Serial Number was generated automatically when you installed ContextExplorer™ for Word.
Most individual users will "Purchase a single copy after the free trial", described above. You can also purchase a license that allows you to run multiple copies of the software on different computers. Once a license is purchased, go to the activation form . Here you can generate a Registration Code for each installed version of ContextExplorer for Word.
For example, consider a scenario where a manager wants to buy ContextExplorer for all members of a 10 person team. The manager purchases a 10 copy license and receives the license number by e-mail. Each team member downloads and installs ContextExplorer on their individual machine. Doing so generates a computer-specific serial number for each user. Each user then provides their serial number to the manager. The manager goes to the activation form, generates 10 registration codes, and sends them to the team members. Each user can now fill in the Registration Code in the Registration dialog box.
