Introduction

You jump start Microsoft Project by using an out-of-the-box project template. Select a template for your domain and you benefit from a standardized project plan that captures the best practice tasks in your business area. Project performance improves with effective communication among team members and with the ability to track issues with respect to project tasks. Unless you have the right tool, project messages will remain disconnected from the tasks themselves. This condition reduces the effectiveness of project management, tracking, and team communication.

ContextPortal™ templates provide a solution that associates project tasks with relevant messages and documents. ContextPortal™ templates maintain the same structure as Microsoft Project templates. For example the figure below shows part of a Microsoft Project template for a new business; it has the same structure as the corresponding ContextPortal™ ConceptMap beneath it.

ContextPortal™ automatically classifies e-mails into the task categories in the template. Projects benefit from the capability to maintain an integrated information-to-task view.

MODEL Technologies Inc. offers six ContextPortal™ templates derived from Microsoft Project templates. The ContextPortal™ templates provide out-of-the-box standardized concepts compatible with the corresponding Microsoft Project templates.

Follow these steps to add the power of context to your Microsoft Project plans:

  • Equip yourself with Microsoft Project and ContextPortal™ for Outlook®
  • Open a Microsoft Project template in Microsoft Project - they are all available on your hard drive if you have installed Microsoft Project 2003.
  • Import the ContextPortal™ template into your ContextPortal™ ConceptMap
  • Train the concepts with representative e-mails
  • The benefits you gain:
    • the system automatically classifies and links e-mails into the task-concepts
    • you can browse cross-referenced project tasks and e-mails to quickly find relevant project information
