Q: What are the ContextPortal™ for Windows requirements?

A: A typical ContextPortal for Microsoft Windows 2003 solution requires server functionality to provide for Web, database and queuing services. For the end users, only a Web browser application is needed.

The following server machine configuration is recommended:

  • Pentium IV with 2-8 GB RAM with at least 60 Gig hard drive storage.

The following services are required to be configured on the server:

  • Windows 2000, Windows 2000 Advanced Server, XP, 2003 Server with current Service Pack
  • Internet Information Server (IIS) 5.5 or higher
  • MS SQL 7.0, 2000 or higher with current service pack
  • Microsoft MSMQ
  • Microsoft .NET Environment

If required, the MODEL Technologies professional services group can assist in the setup.

Q: What are the end user requirements?

A: For end users, the solution requires Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher.

End users need also to accept installation of a TList 7.0 component, which is provided the first time a user accesses CP. It is installed directly from the ContextPortal™ for Windows and takes a few seconds in a typical LAN environment.

Q: Do you support browsers other than Microsoft Internet
Explorer® 5.5 or higher?

A: Not at this time.

Q: Does ContextPortal™ for Microsoft Windows® Server 2003
have a client component?

A: No. ContextPortal runs entirely through Internet Explorer. It does require a “Tlist” to facilitate some functionality. This is downloaded from the server running ContextPortal™ and does not require the end user to reboot the computer.

Q: What types of documents does ContextPortal™ support?

A: ContextPortal currently supports the following file types:

  • Microsoft Word (.doc)
  • Rich Text File (.rtf)
  • Microsoft Outlook®
  • Microsoft Excel (.xls)
  • Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt)
  • Microsoft Text Files (.txt)
  • Web documents (.htm)
  • Adobe Portable Document File (.pdf)
Q: Can the product run on Apache or other web servers?

A: No. The product was designed with Microsoft services, specifically for IIS.

Q: How do you backup the ContextPortal™ database?

A: The ContextPortal database is an SQL database that is backed up following your normal database backup procedures.

Q: What are the storage requirements for the ContextPortal™ database?

A: ContextPortal database requires 25%-30% of the original data source size.
